With no moving parts and no tendency to wear or foul, WedgeMaster devices are the logical choice when there are concerns over meter performance and longevity. Wedge meters also perform well when used in viscous service (i.e., heavy oil with low Reynolds numbers), and with limited upstream piping, making them an ideal and economical solution to alternate metering technologies.
ABB offers a compact FPD570 WedgeMaster package, and ABB’s FPD470 Wedgemeter family provides custom wedge-primary-elements for measuring flow of liquids, gas, and steam. Meters like the ABB FPD470 wedge are bi-directional and particularly suitable for abrasive and / or viscous fluids / slurries.
