The PanaFlow ultrasonic flow meter systems are high-performance, affordable solutions for a variety of gas and liquid flow applications.
It consists of multiple models;
- Z1G & Z2G
The PanaFlow gas meter system is a complete ultrasonic flow meter offering for gas applications with a unique combination of accuracy, rangeability, and reliability in a robust meter design. The PanaFlow gas meter system consists of two models—the one-path PanaFlow Z1G and the two-path PanaFlow Z2G. Both meters offer a high-performance, yet affordable solution for a variety of gas flow applications.
The PanaFlow gas meter system now has the ability to measure the percent methane in biogas. Biogas mainly consists of methane, carbon dioxide, and saturated amounts of water in the mixture. Biogas is a challenge to measure as carbon dioxide is attenuative to the ultrasonic signal and the measurement directly from the digester is low-pressure gas with saturated water. However, we have decades of experience in similar attenuative, low-pressure gas, wet applications. Our latest algorithm uses the speed of sound along with an external temperature and pressure sensor to compensate for the water content to accurately determine the methane content.
Methane content is critical since it directly represents the amount of energy in the biogas. It is an additional measurement beyond volumetric or mass flow rate. This option reduces the investment cost of another gas analyzer to measure the methane content and removes the maintenance cost of calibrating the gas analyzer in the field.
The typical methane content accuracy is 2% of reading. For higher accuracy measurements, an XMTC thermal conductivity transmitter may be used in conjunction with our PanaFlow gas meter.
- Z3
The PanaFlow Z3 by Panametrics is a three-path wetted meter designed specifically for dependable, accurate, and repeatable flow measurement of process liquids. With a sleek industrial design and ultra-reliable electronics, it provides a top-of-the-line choice for process and industrial applications.
The Z3 brings together Panametrics ultrasonic flow meter expertise with the advantages of ultrasonics for a high-performance, low-cost-of-ownership measurement solution for process liquids. Unlike other flow technologies, the ultrasonic PanaFlow Z3 does not require maintenance since it does not have any obstruction in the flow path or any moving parts to be damaged by flowing liquid. It is not affected by changing process conditions (temperature, pressure, and conductivity) and so does not drift over time, eliminating the requirement for periodic calibration.
These meters bring together Panametrics/BHGE expertise in flare gas flow metering with the advantages of ultrasonics for affordable, high-performance gas flow measurement. These meters are designed specifically to measure high-impurity gases. Their all-cast meter bodies have no welds to adversely impact flow dynamics so that high accuracy measurement is possible, even under low flow conditions. The ultra high-power transducers, similar to those used in thousands of Panametrics flare gas meter installations worldwide, are designed for conditions of extreme condensate and impurities and for continuous operation, even in the harshest process conditions.
